New Training Centre Offers Employment Opportunities
The new UNOCO Training Centre recently opened on the Newark College Campus in Nottinghamshire is providing opportunities for young unemployed people in the area to train in skills that will lead to long-term sustainable employment.
The Entry to Employment programme develops essential skills in numeracy literacy as well as providing training in employability skills which includes preparation of CV’s, interview techniques, searching for jobs and working with others. Candidates will also receive training in Health and Safety at Work and job-related subjects such as Basic Food Hygiene and ICT.
Candidates will also experience work placements with local employers and attend taster sessions for apprenticeship programmes and other courses where they can develop their skills and achieve further qualifications including NVQ’s (National Vocational Qualifications).
Candidates who successfully complete the programme, but wish to continue their training before entering full time employment, will be offered places on UNOCO apprenticeships or other further education programmes available at the Newark campus.
UNOCO Group chairman Ted Stanley said: “This new centre, in an expanding commercial area, will provide great opportunities for young people, through a series of employability and apprenticeship programmes, particularly in Warehousing, Logistics, Business Administration and Construction. The centre will also provide a base for delivery of NVQ’s through the Train to Gain programme.”
