Leading Nottingham Training Provider UNOCO Signs New Partnership Agreements With Further Education Colleges
Nottingham-based training and development specialist, the UNOCO Group, has signed a number of partnership agreements with several further education colleges, drawing on their combined strengths and experience, to deliver the perfect training solution for local employers and learners. They include partnerships with Boston College, Westminster College and Huddersfield College.
According to Ted Stanley, Chief Executive Officer of UNOCO, partnerships of this nature are ideally suited to delivering work based learning. The first the partnership agreement established was with Lincoln College which is proving to be highly successful and a number of others are in the pipeline. Ted believes that such partnerships will play a key role in helping employers overcome skills shortages of adults in the workforce. Importantly Unoco also helps employers access funding for the training, particularly through Train to Gain. It is envisaged that the partnerships will deliver up to £12m of training over the next twelve months.
Under the terms of the partnership, UNOCO will use its commercial expertise and contacts to engage employers and secure funding and will also provide workplace training and assessments; the college will focus on providing off the job training at their training facilities. Together the organisations will also work to recruit learners and train assessors, internal verifiers and tutors.
The aim is to provide a wide range of training solutions in priority industry sectors including construction, manufacturing, engineering, health & social care, transport and hospitality. Programmes will include skills and management training for adults in the workplace, apprenticeships for 16 to 25 year olds, Entry to Employment for unemployed young people and pre-apprenticeships and diplomas for 14-16 years to prepare them for their working life.
Courses on offer will include NVQs, technical certificates and key skills, covering subjects such as operational skills, ICT, management training and business improvement techniques. A wide range of government funding streams can also be accessed through the partnership to cover most, if not all, of the cost of training for the employer.
To cater for the individual needs of each employer and learner, Unoco uses the latest screening technology to carry out accurate assessments of individual learners and then delivers tailored programmes using high quality resources and flexible methods of delivery to cater for the individual needs of employers and learners. This approach has led to over 90% success rates, and has reduced training time by half.
Ted Stanley of UNOCO says: "The new partnerships draw on our individual strengths to enable us to offer creative, customer focused solutions to meet the changing demands of government departments, as well as employers and learners. These models will pave the way for further successful private and public partnerships capable of meeting the challenges ahead."
