Enterprise Week - Girls Step IT Up!
The business women of the future have got the chance to win up to £2,000 of learning software for their school during Enterprise Week. As part of Women in Enterprise Day, schools are being asked to put together a group of girls who can come up with a compelling business idea and present it to a panel of judges.
Chesterfield based company Atyourpace Ltd is organising the event in partnership with Derbyshire Education and Business Partnership (DEBP). The event gives girls the opportunity to show off their skills and prove they could make successful entrepreneurs.
One condition of the project is that students have to use ICT in their project and have to show how it has helped them. To make this easier, Atyourpace are giving a free one month licence of their KwikSteps Learning Software which is mapped into the National Curriculum for ICT.
Joanne Moody, Marketing Manager at Atyourpace said: "We are really pleased to be involved in Enterprise Week, we are keen to help students learn better ICT skills as these are essential for everyday work and life, even if it is just a case of writing an application letter for a job or sending a professional email, these are skills everyone needs to learn these days."
Pam Bond from DEBP added: "There are still many more men than women setting up in business although women are quite capable. We hope that by involving girls in entrepreneurship whilst still at school will encourage them later in life to take the plunge into self employment."
All schools in the Derbyshire area welcome to enter. Entries need to be with judges for the 8th November. For an event information pack with full details please contact Atyourpace Ltd, 0871 433 3363 or email admin@atyourpace.co.uk
